Call ducks - what colour?

I purchased a trio of call ducks and I think their colour is apricot but not 100% certain so I wondered if anyone else knows what they are.

Re: Norfolk Grey

A little bit of background for the Norfolk Grey, the breed was created by Mr Myhill of Norwich, under the original name of 'Black Marias', appearing at the 1920 Dairy Show for the first time. The original birds were a result of crossing the Silver Birchen Game and Duckwing Leghorns. There are both L...

Re: Araucanas

anadain very nice pair of Araucanas pictured -the cockerel has a good eye, no brassing of feather colour his overall colour looks a good even shade throughout. The comb looks good nice and straight -avoid breeding from anything with a twist. The cockerel looks a good type overall - you will notice h...

They are looking great - love your punk rockers in the background! When they hit the 8 week mark you will see their markings become much more defined, but it isn't until the third moult that the actual markings will be at their best. Thanks for the pics :D

Thanks Magpie :smt023 they are busy little chicks and always seem active from the moment they hatch. If you have a couple of boys at least you will have a spare - it can be impossible to locate a new cockerel when needed.

I managed to find an ecostat semi auto second hand which I use, not the most flash machine but does the job. It is very easy to clean as there is no fan unit and it has four windows in the lid so you can see the chicks hatching - main reason I chose this machine over the Brinsea models. Here is a li...

I just saw your question with regards to the membrane and wondered if anyone has noticed any connection to the dark egg colour. I was told by a breeder when I started with the French Copper Blacks that although "we want the eggs to be dark that the darker the egg colour the harder it is for the chic...

Nope the boys love life together with the ladies :D the Vorwerk breed is noted for their good temperaments and as long as the cockerels have sufficient room they will live in harmony. Most people who have seen my Vorwerks are often surprised to see the four boys living together but as long as the bi...

CP - I can say hand on heart I have never had a soft egg from my Vorwerk ladies. In fact these are my best layers in the bantams, I have one hen who lays an egg which is the same size as the Large Fowl Araucana eggs I have. They are good feed converters as they eat very little and produce many eggs ...

Thank you Magpie for recommending me. It took me over 6 months to source my vorwerk hatching eggs which my birds come from. The bantam vorwerk is rarer than the large fowl version and has a much smaller gene pool in the UK. They are a good breed laying well through the winter and they are good sized...
