Re: Wrong feed fed, will they be okay?

The hens all seem happy enough, they are running round and eating the layers pellets they now have, but their crops do look big, even when they came out of the coop this morning they looked full. Check their crops in the morning before loosing them out. If they still have food in them, then they ma...

Re: LIMEWASH

The leaflet for limewash used in normal circumstance (ie houses etc) says 2/3 coats should be applied and it should last for 5 years.

Personally I've applied one coat and intend to limewash yearly.

Re: Large abdomen

Chris,

I agree with Sunny on this, I've had couple hybrids that went the same way, they were quite happy for quite a while, but when it got infected thats when they went to the hen house in the sky.

Re: National Poultry Show

I think you'd be looking at about £15-£25 per pet pullet, but I've never seen a NN in the selling pens at the national.

Re: Need advice, cat peeing everywhere indoors

Not a great fan of rubbing animals noses in their wee etc. Firstly get her checked over by the vet to make sure she doesn't have a medical condition eg water infection. It could be painful, and she's associated it with the litter tray, which is why she's not using it. Use a biological washing powder...

Re: NATIONALS

Beside the birds on show and the club stands, theres a sale section, I'm led to believe its the biggest entry this year of both exhibits and birds for sale. Also there's some trade stands, from which you can stock up on everything from Rat poision to a new incubator. Its in a newer hall this year (s...

Re: Alfie died! Any ideas why?

Heart problems can be a bit misleading, because the lungs fill with fluid due to the heart not working properly, so can give respitory like systems like wheezing, and as both resipitory and heart can give purple combs etc it can be difficult to tell the two apart. In addition to worming, I'd also tr...

Re: Help! Something keeps killing my hens

I use agriculturall louse powder, i.e for cattle, so I assumed that it would work. I'll have to check the label and if it dosn't get some other powder. Thanks! Agricultrual louse powder won't work for red mite, as they hide in the nooks and crannies of the house and very can very quickly mulitiply....
